The idea of a surf key is that you can take it into the water – on the beach or in the pool and not run the risk of damaging any expensive and delicate electronics that are inside your factory keys.

Once cut, it will lock and open your doors by placing in the drivers door and turning, it will also allow you to turn the ignition in the van however it will not start the van.
